• Project managed and led research on the development of a point of care (POC) diagnostic device. • Line managed research scientist working on POC projects.• Heavily involved in experimental planning, data analysis and result interpretation. • Drafted risk assessments and SOPs to support laboratory work. • Implemented novel practices to streamline research flow. • Reported results to executive team, scientific advisory board and board of directors.

• Advised R&D staff and helped troubleshoot tech transfer between R&D sites.• Reported research findings to executive team.

• Built an R&D portfolio of molecular diagnostic tests for animal health. • Operated within a network of industry and academic partners to identify promising R&D projects.• Led successful funding applications to support product development, including an Innovate UK grant.• Line managed research scientist working on assay optimisation.• Reported to the executive team as well as the board of directors.

• Generated CRISPR-Cas9-edited avian germ cells with mutations in NTN1, an optic-fissure closure gene. • Gene-edited germs cells were then used in surrogate hosts to produce transgenic embryos.• Contributed to grant applications to fund the generation NTN1-mutant animals.

• Generated and fully characterised two mutant chicken lines lacking key drivers of sex determination. • Participated in a very successful multi-centre research collaboration. • Delivered teaching courses and supervised post-graduate students.• Developed extensive animal, gene-editing and molecular biology skills. • Contributed to many BBSRC funding applications as well as smaller grants to support research work.• Presented results in international research symposia.

• Drove a collaborative project across two research institutes (Roslin Institute and SRUC).• Completed a study for the discovery of age-related circulating microRNA biomarkers in dairy cattle. • Carried out transcriptomic analyses within tight timelines and published in a peer-reviewed journal.• Reported research progress in research group meetings.

• Processed and tested human clinical trial samples according to GLP standards.• Acquired key prioritisation skills and learned to operate to strict QA laboratory standards.• Performed to a high level in a busy laboratory environment.
