Jason now leads the Midlands Enterprise team covering the West and East Midlands Waterway areas from Kidderminster in the West, Stoke and Worksop in the North, Boston and Newark in the East and Stratford in the South. His team generate over £7m of third party support per annum for our canal and river network though delivery of projects with shared objectives. Jason is leading development work to restore and reopen Birmingham's Roundhouse. This work involves close partnership working with the National Trust on what is a shared ambition to showcase the cultural heritage in the City. Other projects range from towpath improvements, heritage and natural environment projects to community engagement and volunteering. These projects are generally a result of close working with local authorities and NGO's to deliver wider public benefit. Jason has lead the development of several of our priority canal restoration projects. Successes include securing HLF funding to resort part of the Grantham Canal and successful realigning our Montgomery Canal restoration project to ensure its successful development and delivery. This involvement has led to securing £4m of investment to deliver the next phase of restoration.

During his time as a project manager, he delivered feasibility work for the restoration of the Northern Reaches of the Lancaster Canal (£0.75M), the Big Lottery funding bid for Phase 1b of the Cotswold Canal restoration (£0.35M) project , secured planning permission for the Liverpool Canal Link and coordination of funding bid for the Sefton Canal Corridor. The first 2 projects included engineering and environmental feasibility, masterplanning, funding and planning document preparation. The driver behind these projects was to offer a regeneration catalyst to a failing rural economy by providing a vibrant waterside location to attract private sector investment through property development. Key responsibilities included;• Management of consultants undertaking an Area Action Plan (AAP) for Canal Head, Kendal. • Supervision of the development of a detailed cost model for capturing property value uplift to contribute to the canal capital costs. • Management of a team and both internal and external consultants and liaison with all stakeholders. Management of finance, forecasts and budget control within agreed timescales. • Securing planning permission and the discharge of planning condition for the Liverpool Canal Link project. This involved the co-ordination of a multi-disciplinary team, liaison with a wide range of stakeholders including the local planning authority, English Heritage, landowners and the general public. The site crosses the Liverpool Pier Head and within the World Heritage Site.• Securing £2.2M in funding for Sefton Canal corridor improvements.
