I am a Software Engineer, Systems Administrator, and Network Engineer with a decade of work history in the Data Center and ISP industries. Currently I run my independent game development company, working on small titles that I hope to release over the next few years, in addition to my current Operations Engineer position. I've worked with server and networking equipment from a wide range of vendors, but mostly custom built servers. I enjoy and excel at programming, system administration, and building automated systems. I've also worked with clustering and virtualization technologies.My experience started during childhood on my father's Commodore 64, and later the lab at my elementary school. I began to show more interest in computers, programming, and the Internet while attending junior high and high school, where I earned the Outstanding Student award in C++. It was also during that time when I formed a deep interest in game development and decided to learn everything needed to create my own games.After graduating with a BS in Computer Information Systems, studying game development on the side, I started at Hurricane Electric. It was at HE where I saw the power in unix systems and networking and developed my unix, server hardware, networking, and system administration skills. At Energy Group Networks I honed my skills to a greater degree, working on projects both internal and customer facing. As the Senior Engineer I worked on stabilizing our systems and filling knowledge gaps in our documentation.In addition to technical skills, I have been in management/leadership roles since my teens; leading, organizing, and communicating ideas are skills that come natural to me. I have a lot of experience training others and can explain complex ideas to those who are new to them.
