I'm working with BESS's and DER's! That's "Battery Energy Storage System" and "Distributed Energy Resource." Because the future needs this stuff. Enel X writes controls software for this equipment, and I am the glue between idealized software controls and the real time operation of fielded hardware. I learn and document the controls and behavior of a BESS and author a system integration document so that our software can be adapted to different industry players.

There's some incredible electronics in the ultra-high vacuum industry, as there is a prominent physics component to the work. I designed a retrofit-able bias circuit for the flux monitor of an electron beam evaporator. The bias is important, because ions in the evaporation path can negatively influence the flux reading, which is means of measuring material deposition of the evaporant. (See? Physics.)I revived a Kelvin Probe design that was thought to be a lost cause, re-establishing a revenue stream for the company. The KP is a method of measuring the Work Function of a material sample in high vacuum. This involved electronics design work, project management, bill of materials management, thorough component review and specification and re-specification. The new product is more integrated and much cleaner.I also provide continuing support for the Kelvin Probe and E-Beam customer bases.

I designed an ARM based control board for motion control applications. This includes the complex peripheral devices of DRAM, flash, dual Ethernet ports, FPGA, MIPI interface, RTC, and a designed-to-suit 9-rail Power Management circuit. I specified components, worked with the layout engineer, and validated the design once the prototypes were produced. It was an end-to-end responsibility from conception to operating hardware.

Designed rigid and flexible circuits with highly constrained spacing requirements for use with ultra-fine pitch LED lighting. Owned vendor relations and developed design rules. Also performed schematic capture and footprint design.

Thanks to the ambition of Zamp, I had the honor of bringing a 5MW Made-in-USA solar module manufacturing plant online. I played a primary role in turning crated machines into a fully functioning plant. This includes a three-part documentation structure, of my own design, to govern the plant. My other contributions in this role were the design of fixtures, specification of material handling methods and equipment, and the direction and education of personnel.

I design and support electronics with my Arcflash business partners.For the company's start, I had a primary role in the conceptualization, design, and qualification of the flagship product: a custom dashboard solution that supports telemetrics and data logging for track racing cars. This includes the electronics design and PCB layout of an RGB LED-based shift-light array.

Life at PVP/AE was spent making primary contributions to the design of seven inverters, from 30kW up to 1MW, with sustaining engineering for each. This work includes design qualification and troubleshooting at every system level, with ownership of the documentation. I would embody design principles for reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability.I created IGBT gate drive designs, and analog and digital designs, often with high-voltage requirements and unique layout challenges. A specialty became Power-Management design, from PCB to system level.Emphasis was always on quality, reliable design. I am happy to have carried this forward into new chapters of my career.

I was hired for a summer internship to support the Master Vehicle Light Switch project. In this role, I generated documentation to communicate a new protection scheme and specified the protection components of this new Gen III design. I gained experience in design and also PCB layout.
