Co-founder and Board MemberOriginally established as the North Shore Education & Access Loop, NEAL was an initiative under the Government's "Broadband Challenge" which saw the extension of a fibre broadband network to schools on Auckland's North Shore.The NEAL Education Trust's (NEAL) core objective was to bring together fibre connected schools to create a collaborative community. By sharing best practices, schools could enhance their teaching and learning programmes and increase student engagement utilizing tools and practices enabled by high speed fibre networking. With the nation wide rollout of ultrafast broadband, any Auckland school was welcomed to join NEAL. NEAL established a central space for information and guidance to schools engaging in ICT development, whether it be simply their ICT infrastructure or for student engagement and pedagogy. A first non-school entity to secure a three year $200,000 PLD contract from the Ministry of Education, NEAL provided schools ICT related teaching and learning professional development. NEAL successfully completed the MOE contract and subsequently developed a sustainable business model to continue to deliver ICT related services and support schools required.
