As one of the lead software engineers at Perenso, my job is to manage the front-end, customer-facing elements of the Perenso Field Sales system. The team at Perenso is always trying to improve the functionality and features of our system, and we frequently liaise with customers to get their feedback on what improvements are going to make their sales teams even more productive. Although my job is to translate client requirements into technical design, I always ensure I think about the problem and the solution from the customer’s perspective. How are customers are going to use the feature, how the feature could work better, and how we can make features as simple as possible whilst still being effective?We work in an environment where everyone has the opportunity to make key decisions, apply their creativity, and work on projects that inspire them. For me, I’m not happy working on something if it’s not the right solution. Unless I’m working on the right solution I’m not motivated – but at Perenso I am continuously motivated. I believe this motivation for excellence is something our customers see every day when they work with our system and our people, and this level of satisfaction is not something I have experienced before as a software engineer.
