Senior Battery Systems Engineer
Current* Technical DRI for development of NPI battery packs for VR and AR products.+ Trade space analysis and battery concept development during architecture exploration.+ Definition and authoring of the battery pack Engineering Requirements Specification (ERS). + Collaboration with XFN stakeholders for battery sizing/fitment to meet target performance requirements. + Estimation and optimization of energy, runtime, battery peak power capability, and shelf life as per product requirements. + Detailed electrical design of the battery protection control module (PCM), including component selection, schematic, layout, system interconnect and software configuration of protection, gas gauging, and charging.+ Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews and design iterations in partnership with battery pack vendors.+ Monitoring of battery pack build quality and fulfillment of Cpk requirements from program inception to mass production. + Driving analysis and resolution of battery-related technical issues that arise at vendor builds, during device dogfooding, and from customer field returns following release to market.* Singular owner for team's battery telemetry efforts, having built up analysis scripts and web dashboards from scratch leveraging Meta's infrastructure tools (Presto for SQL-based queries, Hive for data warehousing, Unidash for web-based visualization and dashboarding).+ Conducted queries/analysis, drafted summary reports, and briefed team on field findings for common battery assessment topics such as profiling of usage patterns, monitoring of health over cycles and time in field, and quantification of failure rates and types along with breakdown of manufacturing origin. + Close collaboration with Reliability Team to provide telemetry-based data and inputs for Monte Carlo predictions of failure rates attributed to different failure modes (e.g. float charging, heavy cycling, storage at temperature extremes, etc).
