The Select Board of Nantucket serves the community by providing clear, concise goals and policies that ensure quality in the delivery of town services, long-term planning, and improved efficiencies in operating town government. On a clear night 14 years ago, I attended my first open night at Loines Observatory to observe the night sky. I was hooked. Never had I noticed the wonders and grandeur above; this was the beginning of my relationship with the Maria Mitchell Association. Today, as interim executive director, I am honored and grateful to help and support such a dedicated and compassionate staff, board, and community that has so many connections to the Maria Mitchell Association.
