During my time at MEG Energy Corp. I was a Marketing Analyst, in the marketing and sales department. Within this role, I worked hand in hand with the scheduling team dealing in rail, pipeline and barge scheduling. I was responsible for the timely and accurate entry of crude oil and condensate railcar BOL’s, and the tracking and analysis of the data regarding the volumes, locations and time of shipment and arrival of our products within Microsoft Excel documents. I was then responsible for the Form-A submissions to various external companies as to ensure we had enough pipeline capacity set aside for MEG to continue business operations. Further, I was responsible for verifying rail order accounts and invoices, which allowed me to communicate with external companies, specifically, in any case where there were discrepancies in respective accounts. Another aspect of my job entailed contract administration, where I was responsible for verifying that all specs on a contract exactly matched what was agreed upon between our trading department and the external company, and following through with it until completion. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of my position with MEG was with business development. I was required to create a crude oil supply and pipeline capacity model, dealing with the majority of North America. This entailed accounting for volume inputs from various areas in Canada, the multiple takeaways such as small refineries, and the ever changing landscape of pipeline capacities, from Alberta down through Chicago and ending in the Houston area.
