As Principal Engineer I serve a group of 25+ engineers of different skill sets and seniorities. I work closely with the Heads of Engineering and CTO.I spend my time having coaching conversations, enabling and unblocking engineers and attending scrum events to provide guidance and oversight.I also contribute to strategic technical direction and architectural decision making.

As a Digital Developer I worked within a cross functional, autonomous squad as the lead back end engineer delivering high value initiatives for DC Thomson’s digital news products. These products serve thousands of requests per second, with tens of thousands of paying subscribers and consist of millions of pieces of content.

Assisting customers to the highest standard, mostly during crisis situations.I spent a good chunk of time advising the Lean squads at RBS, which were teams tasked with optimisation within departments and making our ways of working more efficient by removing unnecessary steps in internal processes or empowering people to be more autonomous.I also took part in rounds of UAT for improvements to digital products and ATMs as a subject matter expert.
