I like puzzles. Not the traditional type where you scatter all the pieces on to your dining room table and search for the right piece for the right place at the right time. The puzzles I like involve organizations, their efficiencies and designing and implementing programs to increase those efficiencies. What is Organizational Efficiency? Well, Organizational Efficiency is the sum of the quotient of the desired outcomes and the current outcomes across all aspects of the organization, multiplied by 100.See the attached image for the true formula, but here's a simplified text version. Organization Efficiency = Sum( Desired Outcome / Current Outcome ) * 100If it you had to stare at the formula and think about it to understand it…you’re in good company.Luckily for me, this is one area where my natural abilities fall. No, not in the calculation of efficiencies, (even though I have a mathematics degree) but rather in my innate ability to identify gaps in an organization and design programs to not only fill those gaps, but to also create opportunities.I have an extensive career in Information Technology spanning 18 years across all levels of the California Education system; from K-12 to the Chancellor’s Office. At each organization, in each role I have helped to identify gaps and design programs that helped these organizations meet their strategic goals. Some of the Programs I have designed and Implemented are:• Computer Inventory Management • Vulnerability Management• Lab Management• Network Management• Risk Management• Firewall Management• Personnel Management• Incident Response Management and Forensic ProceduresSolving organizational puzzles is something that I have a passion for. I love to talk about business, strategy and technology with anyone who shares my passion or who has a puzzle that needs solving.Do you have a puzzle you would like to discuss? If so, drop me an email and let’s solve it together.

InstructorCsu, Chico 2006 - 2008Chico, Ca, Us"The doorway to knowledge is guarded by the beast of frustration."The preceding quote perfectly describes what students in programming face when they graduate from linear or basic programming to abstract programming. After triumphing over my own frustration in my academic career, I designed a new approach to assist students in overcoming the frustration of learning the theory of abstract programming. I approached the College of Business at California State University, Chico with the idea and was hired as an Instructor of Intermediate Business Programming. The cornerstone of my approach involved using real world business examples as exercises and homework in place of the traditional abstract examples. I focused on data handling, manipulation and report writing and the generation of statistics based on this data. While the course was still challenging, I believe my approach was successful as I have had many of my former students reach out to me to thank me and let me know how much of what I taught they use on a daily basis in their professions. -
