I facilitate a community music therapy programme for adults with disabilities with an emphasis on empowerment, creativity and participation. Music technology plays an important part in facilitating access to musical experiences in therapy as well as in other contexts. This programme runs across four facilities in the mid-west region. Facilitation of clinical placements for students of the MA Music Therapy at the Irish World Academy at University of Limerick has been a strong component of the programme.

I provide private music therapy sessions for children and adults. I also run short term music therapy projects for various organisations.

I engaged in a participatory action research project to explore applications of mainstream music technology with adults with disabilities under the supervision of Professor Jane Edwards. This research took an arts-based approach to knowledge generation through a participative epistemology. Co-researchers' voices, skills and interests shaped the research iteratively through cycles of planning, action and reflection. A rhizomatic approach to analysis, informed by Deleuze and Guattari, allowed heterogeneous aspects of the research project to be meaningfully connected to represent moments of 'becoming-musician' for the participants through the de-territorialisation of music and technology.
