Acting as a Director of Development and Alumni Relations, I supported schools to build mutually beneficial lifelong relationships with past pupils and supporters in order to improve the educational experience for current and future students.

As Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for north Belfast in the 2015 general election, I achieved a 63% increase in the Alliance Party vote - from 1809 (2010) to 2941 votes (2015).

The Fresh Food Business Unit had an annual turnover of over £6 billion with £2 billion+ gross profit.Responsibilities included:• Managing relationships with senior stakeholders, internal and external, including CEOs of large corporations• Planning and prioritising the Director's workload and diary• Investigating and owning issues raised to the Director from other senior leaders and direct reports• Researching industry trends and summarising in-depth sales information• Preparing briefings, reports and presentations• Preparing briefings, management reports and presentations• Coordinating the onboarding process for senior members of the team• Managing internal communication processes e.g. huddles, newsletters and consultations• Coordinating team events and fundraising activity

Twice elected as the principal representative and spokesperson for 23,000 students. I received 1557 (2011) and 1710 (2012) 1st preference votes.Responsibilities included:• Line managing 7 full-time employees with further management responsibility for 200 colleagues• Developing the Union's strategic plan and annual plans of work• Developing commercial business plans for the Union shop, bars, and retail space• Budget management (c. £4.5 million turnover / c. £0.7 million commercial surplus)• Managing relationships with senior stakeholders and civic leaders including government ministers • Managing recruitment and sitting on selection panels for full-time employees and the University’s Pro-Chancellor and Honorary Treasurer• Membership of over 30 University committees including the governing Senate, Planning and Finance and Academic Council• Throughout my time at Queen's, I worked closely with the Vice-Chancellor and University senior management to achieve positive change on issues across the institution.Achievements included:• Ranked as the 4th best university students’ union in the UK in terms of student satisfaction as measured by the National Student Survey• Lead a project to improve student satisfaction across the University. Overall satisfaction increased by 7% leading to record achievement in a number of university league tables• Led the development of an ambitious strategic plan for the period 2012-15• Initiated and implemented a review of the Union’s staffing structure to ensure it was conducive to the delivery of the strategic plan• Initiated and managed over £0.6 million of redevelopment works including a major refurbishment of The Speakeasy Bar• Initiated the development of a new £40 million Students’ Union and Student Centre• Secured additional recurrent funding from the University of £0.18 million: an 18% uplift on the annual block grant

Managing the Blastbeat music business competition across 5 post-primary schools and organising regular alcohol-free gigs for young people. I took on the role after competing in the Blastbeat competition as part of Young Enterprise and winning the award for best individual achievement in Ireland.
