I am a highly motivated individual with a wide range of experience and skills. I have GIS experience, using ESRI products to produce maps and analyze spatial data. I have field experience monitoring an endangered species, the California Least Tern. I have mapped rock units and identified faults in Geology courses. I am a recreational drone operator and have attained a FAA part 107 certification to fly commercially. I have also developed strong research and writing skills over the course of my educational career. Five years ago, I decided it was time for a change. I was dissatisfied with my job and wanted to do something different, something that provided real value to society and the world. I made the decision to return to school and received my B.A. in Geography with a minor in Geology from CSULB in 2022. It was in my Geography and Geology courses where I discovered GIS. It was readily apparent to me what a powerful tool GIS is, and I was excited by the environmental applications it could be used for. I applied and was accepted to the Master of Science in GIS program at CSULB and will finish the program in August 2023. I want to use the GIS skills I have gained in this program to help protect the environment and the history of our planet. I am an avid hiker and camper with the goal of visiting every U.S. National Park with my two children. I endeavor to teach them about the importance of protecting our wild areas and the joy that comes from witnessing the beauty of nature. I believe that GIS will play an important role in managing and protecting sensitive species, ecosystems, and cultural resources. This is why I am proud to work in GIS and am excited for the future.
