- Lead and managed 3 projects in a team of 7 local and international researchers, combining to identify a novel, clinically relevant, molecular pathway regulating joint development and degeneration leading to a manuscript in revision at the Journal of Clinical Investigation.- Collaborated with external stakeholders on a novel method of generating embryonic stem cell-derived articular cartilage for regenerative medicine and drug testing leading to 2 co-authored manuscripts published in the high impact journals Nature Biotechnology and Development.- Summarized complex scientific literature publishing a review article in the Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery.- Published 7 abstracts and presented 3 oral and 3 poster presentations at local and international conferences and was selected for a spotlight session presentation at the 2014 Orthopaedic Research Society meeting.- Presented 6 invited speaker presentations including at the Ontario Stem Cell Initiative Rounds and the Toronto Musculoskeletal 3rd annual Research Day.- Mentored and trained a high-school co-op, an undergraduate, and a graduate student in life science theory and techniques who have excelled in science and are on track or have successfully completed undergraduate degrees/graduate degrees in science.- Acted as the primary liaison with the Toronto Centre for Phenogenomics managing health/maintenance strategies, protocols and finances for the use of animals in an SOP-guided environment reducing overall expenditures by 60%.- Identified a novel model of desmoid tumours, a benign sarcoma, and implemented a strategy for its use in collaborative research being conducted with a PhD graduate student.- Prepared, evaluated and delivered 2 days in advance of an internal deadline an analysis of pre-clinical samples of a novel model of enchondromas, a benign cartilage sarcoma tumour, included in a manuscript published in PNAS.- Critically evaluated 4 manuscripts submitted to journals for peer-review.

Worked directly with the President and CSO to analyze and deliver a blinded, independent analysis of pre-clinical samples for inclusion in the investor relations package to support commercialization of a novel therapy for scar reduction post-surgery.

- Lead and managed teams of up to 2 additional researchers on 3 independent projects investigating the role of inflammatory mediators on musculoskeletal health and disease leading to the publication of 3 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals Arthritis Research and Therapy, and Matrix Biology.- Published 8 abstracts and presented 1 oral presentation and 7 poster presentations at local, national and international conferences, including a selected podium presentation at the 10th Annual Canadian Connective Tissue Conference.- Presented 1 guest speaker presentation at the Anatomy and Cell Biology Departmental Seminar Series receiving positive feedback from peers and suggestions for future experiments which were included in published manuscripts.- Mentored and trained an undergraduate summer student and an MSc graduate student in life science theory, techniques and data analysis excelled in science and successfully completed graduate degrees in Chemistry and Cell Biology and are currently in professional careers in dentistry and the pharmaceutical industry.- Maintained Nuclear Energy Worker status and up-to-date records for the regulated use of radioactive isotopes used for research purposes in the laboratory, constantly meeting or exceeding standards set out by the university safety officer.- Lead and managed discussion of presentations as an invited co-chair of a scientific session at the 11th Annual Canadian Connective Tissue Conference in Montreal, Que.- Awarded the 2009 Keith L. Moore Award and the Suzanne M. Bernier Publication Award for best PhD thesis and publication in the department of Anatomy and Cell Biology.- Earned full or partial funding from provincial and national agencies for research-related activities for all years of graduate study including PGS A and PGS D scholarships from the National Science and Engineering Council of Canada.
