Successfully moved into Senior IT Software Engineering role and continue to lead on the network automation team to build out our in-house source of truth product (Nautobot) for our entire network. Continuing to lead efforts in compliance remediation of our devices to efficiently use Django, Python, and Ansible to perform this work efficiently. Also working directly with our Network Architects to build out API connections to vendor tools from Nautobot to act as a front end single place of connection for our end users, making it much easier to complete the needed work from a single tool instead of learning many.

Moved from the Network PLM/Architect team to the Network Automation team to pursue software development. Work on a team of developers and network engineers to develop both front-end and back-end systems using Python, Django, Ansible, and other development tools to provide a more efficient approach to provisioning and maintaining the large enterprise network of more than 20,000 devices. Make use of and develop automated systems using Vendor APIs to streamline efforts that greatly simplify the work needed, providing much quicker returns on overall effort required to do the job. Pursuing the change of role to be retitiled as a Software Engineer.

Served on Telecom’s Product Line Management (PLM) team which defines the network standards for the entire enterprise data network. Specifically owned the area of our VPN connectivity, ensuring the new remote work option was solid and could handle the load required with more than 17,000 users working from a remote location. Led larger enterprise level projects in a network of over 10,000 managed network routers and switches. Plan, design, and troubleshoot these large projects as the lead engineer. Provide tier III support for the datacenter and remote sites across all network technologies in routing, switching, security, and wireless.

Served on Telecom’s Data Network Support team to troubleshoot the large, enterprise network of over 10,000 nodes and trained others in the area of support as well. Moved into a role to lead projects that both redesigned and/or replaced nodes on the network to make it more robust and reliable.

Onsite at Duke-Energy, a part of the Data Network Support team providing support for a vast network infrastructure of over 10,000 devices, deep into advanced routing, switching, security, and wireless. Provide network support to all areas of the business across the country.

Provide internal network infrastructure support at the highest level in a multiple location environment, including core routing, switching, security, and wireless designs and deployment. Develop plans to meet goals both individually and as a department in order to meet the deadlines needed for end user internal needs and customers using hosted services on the network.

Deploy networks for medium to large enterprise businesses, with a focus in routing/switching and security. Create detailed design documents to lay out configuration of routers, switches, and firewalls, including both physical and logical Visio diagrams. Configure VPN technologies, including site to site IPSec tunnels and SSL connections, using both clientless and the Cisco AnyConnect client.

Maintained Cisco network of core routing/switching/firewalls for company corporate office as well as over 120 Cisco ASA firewalls for store locations.

Provide computer, software, and network support for all faculty, staff, and students across a county wide school district that includes 12 different school and administration sites.

Provided computer hardware support for faculty, staff, and students for 2 different university campuses. This includes every piece of hardware from laptop computers to printers and having as little as a 2 hour response time to at most 24 hours.
