About Jason Rubin

An executive in the interactive entertainment business for over 35 years I have experience in creative development, publishing, and managing large slates of first and third party production. For the last 7 years I have been working for Facebook. In late July 2021 I joined the Metaverse Executive team, consolidating various roles and orgs and responsible for Gaming and Interactive Entertainment across Facebook.I was made the VP of Play in 2020, responsible for the various gameplay surfaces of Facebook and its Apps. I led the announcement of the Facebook Cloud Platform which adds complex games to the Facebook Play platform that entertains over 350m gamers a month. I joined Oculus just after it had been acquired by Facebook to manage the Content budget and build first party video games, experiences, and 360 video. Promoted to VP of Content, Oculus, I oversaw the entire developer facing publishing structure including developer relations, developer engineering, the storefront, and developer communications and marketing. Over that period the business grew from predominantly small, exploratory sub-10-million dollar games to one that partners with the likes of Ubisoft on a made for VR Assassin's Creed title, EA/Respawn on a VR rebirth of the Medal of Honor franchise, and AAA Games with other major partners. Prior to Facebook I worked with a top ten Private Equity firm as an advisor on a series of video game acquisitions. This led to joining THQ as President, reporting to the CEO, with a mandate to clean up the business, improve the slate of titles, raise capital, and turn the company around. Although we succeeded in securing a stalking horse investment and the games beat expectations, THQ was forced into Chapter 11 and I oversaw the sale of its assets. Before that I co-founded and led product on two startups: Flektor, Inc., an online video mash-up tool that Launched in April of 2007, quickly passed 1 million users, and was acquired by Fox Interactive Media and folded into MySpace, and MonkeyGods which was an exploration in the Social Gaming space. In 1984 co-founded Naughty Dog in 1984, released my first game professionally in 1985, and created the "Crash Bandicoot" and "Jak and Daxter" video game series. Collectively, these titles have sold over 50 million units and generated billions of dollars in revenue. At the time, Crash Bandicoot was one of the largest Video Game franchises on the Planet. In 2001 I sold Naughty Dog to Sony Computer Entertainment America and continued to lead the company until late 2004.

Listed skills include Video Games, Casual Games, Mobile Games, Game Development, and 19 others.
