Open Gate is a company I founded to pursue my passion of fusing my business and technical acumen to make software more profitable for businesses. With every project I take on, I endeavor to make a clear positive impact on my client’s bottom line.Some Highlights:I led the design and development of a new mobile platform for a multi-national software vendor headquartered in Dallas. This included managing a project staff of 7 developers, including both on-site and remote contributors. This system is a mobile extension of the client's on-premise enterprise application. Major functionality includes syncing with the end customer's LDAP stores, near real-time data visualization, and individualized employee messaging. I consulted with a firm that operates a digital signage network for one of the largest pharmaceutical distributors in the world. I assisted the CEO in technical decisions and advised on how and where technology could positively impact the company’s profitability. I also designed and implemented several custom applications to improve the company’s business processes and provide decision support.I consulted with the CTO of a major digital signage vendor in regards to improving their mobile strategy and offerings. I reviewed their current product line and presented recommendations suggesting both technical improvements and additional features that would boost sales. In addition, I prepared a report on the optimal process for integrating a suite of products that had been acquired by my client and assisted in hiring developers to support those products.I developed an application that manages the flow of up to half a billion dollars a year between the USDA and farmers. In support of the application, I often liaised between Open Gate’s customers and the USDA to overcome technical problems and resolve business and process incidents.

I was hired as a contract software developer at ECOM and quickly rose to manage the development and implementation of a large project to replace the firm’s global cotton trading system.I led a team of developers in building a new platform to manage all ECOM’s cotton related activities across six continents. In addition to managing the developers and being responsible for all hiring and termination decisions, I collaborated with domain experts in the US, Europe, and Australia to collect and prioritize the torrent of feature requests and competing interests. I also designed core features and managed the international implementation effort for the product.
