As the marketing assistant at TWIMS I am responsible for the development and execution of through the line marketing campaigns which include print, online, radio, Google Ads, Mailchimp, and direct marketing. Being part of a small team in a startup I have been heavily involved with the development and strategic direction of the company. Through this, I have gained a thorough understanding of all aspects of business and used my position as the marketer to adjust our offering to suit the desired target market.

My role as marketing and communications officer on the Students Sports Union required me to manage the brand image of University of Cape Town Sport and its 38 individual sporting codes. My role as the Sectary of the canoeing portfolio of the University Sport of South Africa includes the following key responsibilities: -Providing administrative assistance to the Chairperson, Vice-chairperson and Treasurer of the committee-Liaising with the Chairperson in order to arrange meetings-Ensuring meetings are effectively organised and minuted-Circulating agendas and minutes for meetings-Maintaining effective records-Addressing any concerns regarding the constitution and ensuring the constitution is up to date-Communicating with members of university canoe club committees

As the Chairman of the UCT Canoe Club I was responsible for directing and managing a team of 6 who strive to ensure that the needs of both new members and elite athletes are catered for. A few key responsibilities as the Chairman:- Administration: - Event coordination (These events include provincial races, formal events and multi-day events catering for upwards of 70 people) - Paddler registration - Communicating with University administration, University Sport of South Africa and Canoeing South Africa - Treasury: - Development of club budgets for each financial year (approximately R140000 a year) - Management of club expenditure- Providing assistance to the following portfolios: - Public relations (including filming of events and running various social media pages) - Sponsorship - High Performance Program - Surfski - Novices - Equipment management - TransformationIn addition to the above responsibilities I was also the club safety officer.
