Profile bio

About Jason Sperske

I enjoy writing software to solve problems. From the age of 7, playing with GW-BASIC and later QBASIC and TI-BASIC throughout junior high and high school, programming was a way to understand the math I was learning as well as a way to make games that my friends could enjoy. After high school, I jumped at the chance to work for a startup where I wrote an instant message client in Java (Applet) as well as computer management software. Along the way, I got to understand how software teams operated and picked up more languages and operating systems.I finally started out on my own while I was a student at Sierra College and thought I could make a better class registration system which launched my first company (Blue Jay Creative Solutions). From there I started a company around a risk assessment system I created called XRAE. After assembling a team and building a sustainable product we signed 13 life insurance carriers and over 200 life insurance agencies until we were eventually acquired. While the business was growing, I moved on to work in more traditional corporate environments, first as a director then as VP of technology at NeoLife. It was in these roles that I began to understand and value the job of advocate and team builder. Our team grew and delivered impressive software, but what I am most proud of was helping our team advance as individuals, building clear strategies and creating opportunities to learn new skills. These days I am looking to bring my years of experience in developing products and building sustainable systems to new teams as well as to gain experience in new industries and new platforms. I remain as curious and hungry as ever and I'm sure the things I build next will no doubt be the most challenging.

Listed skills include Linux, Javascript, Html, Web Development, and 32 others.
