8 years at Facebook is a truly amazing experience. Highlights: leading a vertical solutions engineering team responsible for over $225M in revenue; helping Nike, P&G and Coca-Cola successfully integrate Facebook into front-end, back-end and mobile apps; interviewing 250+ engineering candidates, mentoring many amazing new team members; attending hundreds of Mark Zuckerberg’s Q&As while Facebook grew from 1,500 to 35,000 employees; working with world-class engineers, product managers and teams; and writing, debugging and deploying code for the most popular app in the world.

Around the same time that Uber was founded I had the fortune to work with Sunil Paul on coding proof-of-concepts for a competing technology. As the sole engineer I created front and back-end code hosted on Heroku; and co-invented patent #20110313880 "A System And Method For Selecting Transportation Resources."

We had a simple goal: to power awesome event search - so that people can find fun things to do in the real world. Highlights included: discovering a deep passion for Ruby while building new features, bug fixes and production deployments for a top-10 Ruby on Rails (ROR) website. Architected technical plan to integrate ticket sales; negotiated deals with ticketing companies to build affiliate sales from $0 to over $15 million a year. Worked with TicketMaster, Live Nation, Stubhub, AEG Live, RazorGator, TicketsNow, OpenTable, Viagogo, Seatwave, Gayot, GrooveTickets, InterContinental Hotels, Marriott, Hilton, Active.com and more than 50 other fun event partners.

Proofpoint developed ground breaking machine-learning algorithms to identify spam attacks. As the senior systems engineer, I was responsible for all aspects of the customer technical relationship, from initial technical presentations to development, design and implementation of large-scale, mission-critical projects. I identified, designed and prioritized future product features, and was the liaison between product management, engineering teams and customer technical staff. Responsible for managing the technical relationship with the largest and most critical clients, including Bank of America, Wells Fargo, MCI, Tyson Foods, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Cisco.

We were the first company to detect and stop massive spam storms on the internet - by pioneering a completely new technology. I was the first systems engineer, responsible for all elements of the customer technical relationship, from pre-sales, to implementation and critical customer support issues. Also designed & implemented massive (up to 100 million user, 500+ machine) production systems to defend against millions of spam attacks per day. Some of my major accounts: Earthlink, Cisco, Microsoft, Motorola, Bell South, British Telecom, SingTel and many other company critical revenue accounts. As a member of the international sales team, moved to the Netherlands to open our first European office and helped expand sales efforts into overseas markets, including the UK, Europe and Asia.

Our team supported the production of Star Wars - and many other amazing movies and effects. I was the top level of UNIX security and systems support for production environment for approximately 1,000 employees and massive at the time (1500+ CPU) high-bandwidth render and backup system. Also lead for design, email, news and majordomo systems, security auditing and threat assessment.
