I lead well and endeavor to do so with a servant’s heart. I appreciate being led well by someone I can stand with in order to help them and the organization succeed. I am a systems thinker, facilitator, project manager, and builder of innovation ecosystems. I thrive as a collaborator and connector of people, organizations, and ideas within agriculture, ag-tech, and academia. I co-led a national consortium of 80+ organizations in the $250M Smart Agrifood Super Cluster bid in 2017. I successfully led the submission of a WD – Regional Innovation Ecosystem grant and the awarding of $1.9M. I saw that through to the lean startup design and implementation of phase 1 of the Olds College Smart Farm, a component of the Smart Ag Ecosystem at Olds College. I am respectfully tenacious and have been recognized with a corporation-wide Bulldog Award. I am a founder of the AgriFood IMPACT, a social enterprise, agri-food ecosystem enabler. I perceive the value of operating in the messy middle. I see nature-based systems as the key to creating a truly circular economy and have experienced the inexplicable synergy that occurs when plants, animals, air, water, and land are allowed to work together, exactly how they were created to, and in a way that is additive to the environment, not extractive. I have been recognized at the World Environment Centre, Washington D.C., and have received the Clear Water Landcare Environmental Stewardship Award in 2016. I successfully managed a 50,000-acre cattle ranch and grew the operating capacity from 85 to 500 cow/calf pairs while increasing grazing efficiency by 300%. I consider myself a steward of the land and have been blessed to invest my professional career involved in both technology and agriculture. I am comfortable in a high-tech facility, on the back of a horse, at the business end of a cow, in a boardroom with executives, or a classroom or lab with an agriculture student who wants to learn what it means to grow food for their family and a nation.I am open to exploring any of these points and look forward to discussing them further.
