I am a diplomatic and pragmatic senior leader. With a background that includes over 30 years of policing and public service, I have experience of advising public and private sector organisations at executive level, both in the UK and abroad. Together with an extensive experience of criminal investigation, operational policing, and security issues, I can also effectively review business practices and procedures, to identify threats and opportunities for development.I have worked in many complex and demanding environments and fully recognise the value of working in partnership. This includes not just with law enforcement agencies but also with other key stakeholders who can collectively work to achieve shared goals and objectives and have worked with statutory bodies, non-government organisations (NGOs) and local communities to achieve these. Accordingly I have a comprehensive understanding of the importance of the developing the social and economic capital of countries, regions, and businesses at a strategic level, in order to establish solid foundations for growth and development, in their widest possible sense. Having actively led and delivered numerous projects and initiatives, engaged with government and industry at executive level, both in the UK and internationally, I recognise the importance of developing the people in any organisation and empowering the right individuals to enable them to deliver sustainable, efficient, and effective results. I have successfully managed transformational change programmes and designed policies and procedures to support ongoing performance improvement and enjoy assessing and developing people, including providing advice on the recruitment of staff and in training specialist skills.My background means I have considerable experience of making decisions at pace, often in critical situations. I can interpret and assimilate information quickly and understand how things work ,or why they may not be, and offer clear and effective solutions. I offer a fair and transparent approach which can be relied on and this has helped me to establish a record of building trust and confidence both with colleagues and senior stakeholders.
