Working with international NGO, in environment with very limited budgets, sparse office support and volunteer crews. Coordination for multiple vessel refit projects in USA, Mexico, Honduras, Bahamas etc. Drydocking, hull plate renewal, shaft pull and alignment, supervising paid and volunteer crew. Extremely challenging work, with vastly different skillsets, cultures and locations.• Creating scope of work, master punchlist, issue RFQ’s, monitor and control budget• Planning crew requirements, disciplining, interviewing, coordinatimg arrivals departures etc• Estimating, tracking hours, issuing RFQ’s, liaison with shipyards, docks,• Meeting regularly with contractors to resolve issues, as well as crew to organize work.

Lumut, Malaysia

Taking place in Malaysia, this was an extensive on-land refit of an 80" aluminum Sailboat for a private owner. The primary scope of work was to replace the entire deck(due to corrosion issues) with new plate, rebuild new cabin structures, new deck fixtures, replacing worn or damaged hull plates and other assorted equipment items as per the owners design. Involved in this process was the supervision of local Malay workers, as well as sourcing local suppliers for material and forming, creating working relationships in a different cultural environment. Working with sometimes adverse conditions, from power supply problems, to consumable quality issues.

North Vancouver B.C. Canada

Washington Yachting Group undertook an ambitious refit of a 300' yacht, transforming it into a 340' superyacht, with a total transformation of the interior and exterior of the vessel, lasting from 2007-2011. In an environment dedicated to the highest standards of quality and safety, My responsibilities lay with supervision of a crew of tradesmen and laborers. The vessel was dry-docked, and much of our work was on the higher decks, creating new deck and cabin structures, bulwarks, pop-outs and replacing load bearing structure. This necessitated the creation of work space, and supply areas close to where the work was taking place to save time and effort. In addition, the supervision of work quality, progress and adherence to safety guidelines, recruitment and discipline of personnel where needed. Working with multiple materials, and all taking place in an extreme fire danger scenario. This was an environment with multiple trades represented and sometimes conflicting schedules, which required a great deal of effective communication. Review of drawings and architects designs, translating these into work instruction for trades.
