Oversee the habitat restoration programs within Public Spaces Delivery, which are responsible for the delivery of restoration projects that shape our landscapes and respond to the biodiversity and climate emergencies. Primary duties include: Enable the delivery of habitat restoration and wetland restoration projects throughout the city.

Responsible for the conservation and restoration of urban natural ecosystems. Key responsibilities and accomplishments include:- Planning and implementation of ecological restoration projects and Habitat Management Plans- Developed award-winning parks habitat restoration program- Assess habitat condition within natural environment parks; collect, maintain, and analyze ecological data- Perform landscape analysis using geographic information systems (GIS) to identify potential restoration areas and sensitive areas to protect from future development - Mini (Miyawaki) forest pilot project manager- Support Parks Operations in natural areas and biodiversity initiatives- Co-developed an ArcGIS Online mobile app for restoration project tracking and reporting

-Assisted with implementation of the City’s integrated pest management program including; application of pesticides (insecticides, herbicides, rodenticides), bio-control and mosquito larva monitoring and control-Assessed and maintained urban trees, parks and gardens; including tree identification, health assessment, pest/disease identification & control, pruning, tree removal and re-planting

-Coordinated, wrote and reviewed environmental impact assessments for construction projects within the Town of Banff and for front-country areas of Banff National Park-Assured the appropriate level of environmental protection was in place and that compliance/conformance with project regulatory and environmental commitments were met. Operated independently of the proponent or contractors to ensure National Parks Act, Weed Control Act, Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, Fisheries Act, Migratory Birds Convention Act and municipal by-law requirements were met-Provided technical, scientific, and regulatory advice to management on legislative and environmental requirements in sometimes highly politically sensitive environments-Developed field survey protocol and project tracking database to assess ecological restoration success at project sites-Coordination of environmental best management practices across a diversity of construction projects, including vegetation clearing, soil handling, erosion and sediment control and prohibited noxious weed control-Liaised with technical, functional, cultural and scientific experts as required to determine potential land use issues and adverse environmental effects, avoidance and mitigation measures-Completed project environmental surveillance, management of contractors and follow-up monitoring

-Provided continuous support in vegetative ecology in species taxonomy and rare plant identification, weed surveys, invasive species management, ecological land classification, Conservation & Reclamation assessments, wellsite reclamation assessments, wildlife surveys, data entry and QAQC, analyses, and report development-Operated as the Vegetation Discipline Lead, managing vegetation component of several large EIAs for in situ oil and gas projects in northern Alberta; business development including responses to tender documents-Functioned as the lead project manager for a biophysical impact assessment for the RiverWalk Stage 2 redevelopment in the City of Calgary; responsible for managing the soils, vegetation and wildlife disciplines -Responsible for supervising field programs, managing budget and timelines, collecting data, performing analyses, mapping vegetation communities using ArcGIS and developing technical reports-Collaborated with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals, ensuring projects were completed on schedule

-Performed an in-depth landscape analysis of ecologically significant grassland areas of Alberta to identify potential impacts from development; and determine candidate areas for greater conservation -Established and maintained positive relationships with local landowners and grazing leaseholders and organized interview sessions to discuss conservation tools to improve rangeland stewardship -Authored a detailed report providing government and regulatory authorities with recommendation on land use and engaged in discussions with key stakeholders (e.g., citizens, other ENGOs, government officials)-Piloted an in-depth review of Rocky Mountain National Parks Management plans and reviewed the Alberta Land-use Framework and Draft SSRP; and prepared funding proposals for continuation of research
