About Jason Wilkes

After training as a natural history film-maker back in my University days, I fell into my 1st sales job for BT. That was the start of a 10 year love affair with the telecoms sector. Starting from the bottom; cold calling and knocking doors to managing over 120 sales staff as the UK Business Sales Manager for Nextcall Telecom in 2002...a great industry to work in with some fantastic people (and some not so fantastic ;-)). Good times!From there I moved in to a classic SaaS environment as the Sales & Marketing Manager for a telecoms billing provider, Dataflow Communications. This is where I first started to see how the web and great applications could save lots of money by transforming the way we work as well as making lots of money from changing the way we engage with new prospects and sell.In December 2010, I joined Nudge Digital; a great Bristol-based Digital agency that embodies the 'spirit of the digital entrepreneur'. With Government funding, this temporary contract project required a mixed commercial and industrial waste stream to be contractually secured for a new advanced MBT/MRF facility due to open in Birmingham, 2011.Activities included all aspects of the sales and marketing strategy; prospect database creation, supporting web content creation and social media initiatives, direct mail campaign, email newsletter and a proactive telemarketing campaign to significant local potential suppliers including local councils. Face-to-face meetings were conducted securing mixed-waste supply commitments over a 5 year period. This project was extremely successful in securing over 200,000 tonnes per annum of mixed waste registered for supply to the facility (166% of initial waste target).
