20+ years practicing, consulting, coaching, and facilitating iterative, incremental (aka Agile, Lean) software product delivery. First introduced to Extreme Programming in 1999. From early 2023, I've been supporting Grainger directors and VPs in Product and Engineering in modernising their approach to software product development, including product operating models, engineering ways of working, SRE, and platform engineering strategy.From early 2015 to late 2022, I helped the Spotify Advertising Technology and Marketing Technology areas scale from a handful of teams to hundreds of people. I supported the cross-functional directors in Technology, Product, Design, and Insights with organisation design, leadership development, and general problem-solving.From early 2001 to late 2014, I started my career at ThoughtWorks, one of the earliest companies that embraced Extreme Programming and other Agile approaches. I did production support, automated builds, designed version control branching strategies, taught object-oriented Java development, worked as a developer on both rich client and web-based Java projects, facilitated delivery teams and larger programs, and facilitated Agile transformations at medium and large organisations across multiple industries. I was a committer on one of the first Open Source Continuous Integration servers, CruiseControl.I first encountered "Agile" in 1999 when I was introduced to Extreme Programming. I've been practicing, thinking about, writing about, and presenting on, Agile and Lean concepts, principles, and practices ever since.
