Thesis title: Role and Structure of Estrogen Receptor Beta Isoforms in Breast Carcinogenesis.I worked as part of the Gene Regulation and Cancer Group to estimate the role and structure of the Estrogen Receptor beta isoforms in Breast Carcinogenesis. It was an exciting training and experience whilst I performed intense cell culture, extractions, amplification, RT- PCR and analysed the results. We found different expression patterns concluding that this might be due to alternate splicing and/or the existence of a novel promoter region. This was a research involving ample deadlines and work pressure which was handled successfully.Laboratory techniques:• Intense environmental biology, biotechnology, microbiology and immunology background including cell staining, assays like DOT and Sandwich ELISA.• Expertise in Cancer Biology including practical experience in cell culture, RNA extraction, DNA purification, SDS- PAGE, Real Time PCR, general amplification processes with random hexamers and gene specific primers, etc.• Have hands on experience in pH analysis , isolate plasmid and genomic DNA using a silica membrane column, extensive experience in Gel Electrophoresis, In vitro DNA ligation, Restriction digestion of DNA, Microbiological transformations etc.
