I worked as a summer placement engineer at Skanska Costain Strabag Joint Venture (SCSJV) for HS2 (High Speed 2) Main Work at West Ruislip Portal from 04 July 2022 to 26 August 2022. I was under the Temporary Works Design Team in the West Area of SCSJV. In the 2-month summer placement, I was responsible for doing calculation checks on the formwork wall, hoarding design, working platforms, and foundation design for the site office. I have also done gravity retaining wall calculation checks based on CIRIA guidance, and investigated how ground pressure affects the safety of the wall. I was also responsible for checking reinforcement scheduling for temporary work structures. During the summer placement, I also had opportunities to have site visits with my supervisor in the company and had chances to enter the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) in West Ruislip Portal for the HS2 project. I attained knowledge of the principle of TBM operations and aspired to how the TBM can tunnel a city with minimal impacts on nearby residents. This experience has greatly grown my passion towards Geotechnical Engineering, especially Tunnel Engineering.

I worked as a summer intern at AECOM Hong Kong, Structural, Building Engineering division from 7 June 2021 to 30 July 2021. During this summer internship, I was involved in preparing the tender design for the Design and Construction of the District Open Space, Sports Centre Cum Public Vehicle Park at Sze Mei Street, Sun Po Kong in Hong Kong. From preparing structural framing plans and detailed designs for reinforced concrete elements, I attained practical knowledge of structural design areas in Civil Engineering. From this practical experience, I also understand how Civil Engineers prepare a tender design which is aimed to deliver effective service to clients. I have also attained practical experience in Civil Engineering related software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and PROKON, which would be advantageous in my future career in Civil Engineering. This experience has also grown my passion towards Civil Engineering in my future career.

I worked as a summer intern at Negawatt Utility Limited, Hong Kong from 1 July 2020 to 31 August 2020. I was under the building service engineering department throughout the 2-month internship. In this work experience, I was involved in the data analysis of electricity usage of two of the commercial buildings in Hong Kong and participated in the documentation of data reports using the company's cloud platform. From practical experience of analysing energy usage of buildings, I have learnt fundamental knowledge in Energy and Environmental Engineering. Moreover, I attained practical experience in learning how HVAC and chiller systems in a building work, which is related to Fluid Mechanics in Civil Engineering. I have also attained digital skills in Pandas of Python, which is advantageous for me to perform excellently in programming-related tasks.

In this work experience, I was involved in the development of API documentation for the Company's online platform using Swagger in Visual Studio Code. The programming skills attained are useful for me to perform better in the programming of mathematical-related tasks.
