The English music magazine Gramophone wrote about their first cd: “How soon will we hear… Show more La Sfera Armoniosa, directed by Mike Fentross and founded in 1991, is specialized in the performance of music from the seventeenth and eighteenth century. In addition to the music of famous composers such as Monteverdi, Haendel and Lully, the ensemble undertakes research into the manuscripts and printed works of the European libraries in order to provide a rich spectrum of music from lesser known composers. The English music magazine Gramophone wrote about their first cd: “How soon will we hear the enchanting La Sfera Armoniosa again, and what fresh buried treasure will they unearth?” Since then La Sfera Armoniosa has performed many treasures with great succes in main festivals and concert halls. In 2006 they performed the Jubilee production of the Holland Festival Early Music; the world premiere of the opera l’Ipermestra from Francesco Cavalli. On this occasion the foundation La Sfera Armoniosa Orchestra was born. In 2008 La Sfera performed the world premiere of the another Cavalli opera, La Rosinda. In Potsdam Sanssouci, Vantaa and Bayreuth. From La Rosinda a cd will be released this year. Future projects include the opera Granida from the Dutch poet P.C. Hooft, Haendel opera aria’s and a recording of unknown Haendel cantatas with the famous contralto Sonia Prina and projects in collaboration with the Dutch Chamber Choir. We organize the choir concert series of the St. Peter's Church in Utrecht, one of the oldest churches of the Netherlands. It consists of concerts by professional choirs and amateur choirs. The NJO organises every year a summer school for music students in the later phase of their studies. This summer school, the NJO Summer Academy, is highly acclaimed. The project runs in August and provides high level tuition every year for about 140 music students from the Netherlands and abroad. Every year many well known conductors participate. A contemporary composer characterises every years' edition as 'composer in residence'.

The Utrecht Baroque Consort (UBC) is an orchestra founded and directed by the Dutch musicologist, conductor and Baroque specialist Jos van Veldhoven. Many non-published operas and oratoria that have not been played since their first performance in the 17th or 18th century, are rediscovered by this orchestra. One of the most successful acts of the UBC was the performance (Dutch premiere) of the newly discovered Nisi Dominus by Vivaldi, performed in de Doelen, Rotterdam in November 2004.
