My team is responsible for all Product Management for eBay Commerce Network, serving Product Listings Ads from merchants in 5 countries across a network of premium publishers, including Shopping.com, Dealtime.com, and Epinions.com .

Through 2014 I product managed ECN’s infrastructure, including Search, Catalog, Tracking, and Analytics. Since 2014 I have also been responsible for Selection and Pricing and transitioned to managing all merchant products.With only two of the top 500 retailers building and maintaining their own search engine, guiding this effort is a big privilege. Add to that the world-class people in our Research, Data, and Classification teams, and you'll understand it's a joy to go to work every day.

I worked on contracts to optimize a whole web crawl for an Italian firm, to translate and better position the website of a Dutch search firm, and finally a plugin to extract metadata for Openwater Networks.

Two former Oracle executives founded Openwater Networks to build Interactive Search Networks that are optimized for the language of your community and allow you to not only consume (search) information but also to contribute using Web 2.0 techniques such as tagging, collaborative filtering and community authoring.With a focus on language and search, I helped architect Openwater's platform, built on top of a lot of open source software including Lucene, Nutch, Solr and Hadoop, and running on Amazon's EC2/S3 Cloud Computing infrastructure.In 2012, Openwater Networks merged with http://www.linkedin.com/company/discern .

Intel’s Developer Products Division (www.intel.com/software/products) helps developers create software that runs best on Intel platforms. Products include Compilers, Performance Libraries, Cluster Tools, Threading Tools and the VTune™ Performance Analyzer.I managed a new product, which included market validation with Wall Street programmers and managing the firm (www.mile7.com) who designed and user-tested an Eclipse GUI for the product.On the side I invented a technique for which Intel filed a patent.I loved working for Intel because it has fantastic people and a very strong culture, but couldn't resist Timothy Chou, who lured me to Openwater Networks (see above).

Reasoning finds defects in its clients’ source code, faster and cheaper than any other method can, with a typical ROI of 300-500%.As Product Manager, I launched a Java Inspection Service and a Security Inspection Service, drove the addition of Metrics Reports to the C/C++ service and initiated the inspection of Open Source projects which led to unprecedented levels of publicity. As a Principal Member of Technical Staff I made significant contributions to Sales, Marketing and Engineering, Including building relations with large customers like IBM, NCR, the German Stock Exchange and Telekurs. I also contributed code to a COBOL inspection service.

Emendo supplied software analysis and transformation tools and was extraordinarily successful with their Y2K tools. In 1996, Gartner Group gave Emendo the highest ranking for technology suitable for solving the Year 2000 problem.I managed the extension of Emendo's Y2K inspection tool with the DEC/VAX COBOL dialect.I enjoyed working here, but couldn't resist Timothy Chou, who lured me to Reasoning Inc. in the sunny state of California (see above).

ID Research focused on transferring academic knowledge to businesses, including client-server consulting, data modeling and large scale software transformations. It was acquired by Ordina in 1998.I performed Product Marketing and Product Management of Software Transformation Services, as well as actually building a Software Transformation Factory and training consultants.

CWI performs fundamental scientific research in mathematics and computer science and transfers the acquired knowledge to society and industry. It is best known as the birthplace of ALGOL and Python.I was a principal contributor to one of the most succesful ESPRIT projects, the compiler generation project COMPARE.
