About Jasper Put

Improvement is my passion. I aspire to help people unlock their full potential. I do this by combining theory with practice. (click below to read more!)VALUES:1. Learning: The thread going through my life is my drive for learning and (self-)development. I focus on improvement, growth and efficiency. In the broadest sense of the word:❖ Physically (e.g. juggling, chopping wood, sports)❖ Mentally/psychologically (e.g. creativity, focus, productivity)❖ Knowledge (e.g. sustainability, innovations, health)❖ Socially (e.g. teamwork, leadership)2. Adventure: Learning does not go without obstacles. I like to challenge myself and do new things. In this process, I prefer variation and the need for adaptation. Traveling is the ultimate expression.3. Nature: In general, I prefer natural solutions over artificial ones (whatever interpretation you may have). Mostly based on evolutionary psychology and biology. I am interested in humans, and have a holistic and preventive view on health. But the whole system is important, so I like to be in nature, and I am concerned about the future of our planet. HUMAN MOVEMENT SCIENCE:These values led me to this study. Something I have always known, and feels like a hobby for me.Why: My passion is to understand humans. Including all the mechanisms and effects of movement. The goal is helping people to perform better. How: Combining THEORY and PRACTICE, BODY and MIND.Special fields of interest:❖ Biomechanics❖ (Exercise) physiology❖ Motor control❖ Performance psychologySTRENGTHS:The following qualities that I possess, facilitate that I can live my values and excel. Both in human movement science, and in my personal life.1. It all starts with my ambitions, curiosity and eagerness for self-development2. Then there is courage and motivation to work for this3. My focus is goal-oriented, I work systematically, and do this with perseverance4. By analytical and critical thinking, and asking (myself) questions, I make the right choices leading to achieving my goals.Personality (MBTI): INTJDo you feel inspired? Are you willing to collaborate for the sake of growth?PLEASE CONTACT ME!As we are social beings, learning and development works best in interaction with others. That’s what makes humans so special, and why we can accomplish insane things.Let’s make the world a better place together!🙏jasper.put01@gmail.com

In this role I gave advice for which spirometry equipment to use. I also searched for available sub-maximal testing methods (treadmill, stepping) and adjusted them to our current education environment. I did literature research to find out which method to measure fat percentage has the most validity, reliability and feasibility. And I developed two rowing protocols (submaximal and maximal) to test the student rowers in Groningen in a sport specific manner. And of course I gained experience by conducting and evaluating (even explaining), a lot of exercise tests.

At Bever, I helped hundreds of people to get the most out of their outdoor experience. As an employee of this outdoor gear shop, the goal is to find out what kind of adventure someone is going to undertake, and what equipment would fit best for their situation. For this, an interest and feeling for someone's wishes are important, as well as a solid product knowledge. As an all-round employee, I have worked on all departments (camping, shoes, clothing, equipment). During this experience I learned how a leading Dutch retail company like Bever runs its business, and how it deals with challenges of sustainability. • G.S.R. 'Aegir'
Co-Founder Rowing Performance Analysis (Biomechanical And Physiological) At Gsr Aegir
    G.S.R. 'Aegir' Aug 2021 - Jun 2022
    Groningen, Groningen, Netherlands
There was nothing existing like scientific support for rowing performance in Groningen. So together with Maxwell Otto (Master student sport science) and Steven Edelenbos (head coach heavyweight rowing), we built it up completely from scratch. We had weekly meetings to discuss the organization and working method. We went to our colleague embedded scientist from the KNRB in Amsterdam to learn about the application of scientific support in rowing. Next to that, I set-up a data-collection structure to organize and present all collected data in an efficacious way. It was a valuable experience in which I developed by combining science, sports, management and innovation!Activities:- Set-up and organization of division for sports science at GSR Aegir- Meetings with the sport science team (Maxwell Otto and Steven Edelelbos)- Set-up data collection structureLearning experience:- Management and communication- Innovation
  • G.S.R. 'Aegir'
    Embedded Scientist
    G.S.R. 'Aegir' Aug 2021 - May 2022
    Groningen, Groningen, Netherlands
During the season 2021-2022, I did an internship at GSR Aegir as an embedded scientist. In this internship, I supported the heavyweight rowing crew with technical feedback on their performances. Biomechanical analysis:The goal was to improve the rowing technique. With the Peach Powerline on-water measurement system, we collected data like oar angle/velocity, force, and speed/acceleration of the boat. We visualized this in graphs and gave personalized feedback on the characteristics of their stroke. Supported by scientific literature, I have learned a lot on interpreting the data of this sport with nothing attached to the solid ground.Exercise testing:With periodic exercise tests, I combined data of heart rate, power, blood lactate, RPE (rate of perceived exertion), and general stress/recovery, to get the most reliable picture of their physiological status. We used these tests to evaluate the effect of their training program, define sport specific heart rate zones, and prevent overtraining.Sander Bakker: ''This research sheds a clear light on the invisible: it allows us to reach a power curve which is more synchronized under water causing us to row faster!''Activities:- Meetings with the sport science team (Maxwell Otto and Steven Edelenbos)- Boat preparation with measurement system (Peach powerline)- Exercise testing- Literature research- Data analysis- Feedback sessions with rowers and coachesLearning experience:- Face-to-face collaboration with athletes (testing and feedback)- On hands practical experience as embedded scientist

  • Crazy Monkey Movement Amsterdam
    Intensive Student
Crazy Monkey Movement Amsterdam Jul 2020 - Jul 2021
    Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands
During my internship at Crazy Monkey, I focused on movement in another perspective than the isolated scientific approach we get at the study Human Movement Sciences. In this way, I could combine theory with practice.Crazy Monkey is a movement studio, in which movement is seen in terms of ‘attributes’ instead of specific ‘skills’. Examples of attributes are: balance, hand-eye coordination, rhythm and creativity. There are guided movement classes, and plenty of time for self-practice together with other students. In these, we investigate all aspects of movement. By doing exercises, improvising, observing, and taking notes. The environment of the studio was ideal, surrounded by other movements fascinates. It was great to practice, have discussions and develop together. This interaction makes the learning process dynamic and fruitful. And of course, it was fun to train, talk, and grow in a group.Learning experience:- Experience movement!- Have an open mindset regarding to 'the truth'- 'Build' my own practice

    Groningen, Groningen, Netherlands
During the first year of my bachelor Human Movement Science, I was part of the 1st year representative committee. In this role, I functioned as a link between the students and the university (lecturers/professors, curriculum coordination, management). Next to that we arranged (educational) necessities, and evaluated the courses. In February 2020, the world turned upside down when the corona pandemic rushed in. In this situation, that nobody thought to be possible before, the whole society collapsed (including universities!). We communicated with other committees about what to do with the scheduled exams, and lecturers about the switch to online education.
