Jaspreet Dhillon Email and Phone Number
I have completed a master’s degree in social work from Western Sydney University. I am looking for an opportunity to utilize my extensive social work skills and knowledge. My master degree in social work has enhanced my understanding of the interconnection of human behaviour, the social environment, micro and macro factors using system theory and social work theories. I have learnt about the intersectionality of social issues including drug and alcohol, employment, culture, and identity in people with CALD background and Indigenous community. I have learned a great deal about the profession through the completion of 400 internship hours at the Ability Options disability services where I worked alongside the work ready team and provided work ready consultancy services to the NDIS participants through conducting individual assessments, goal planning, conducted one on one sessions and writing case notes which have developed my clinical skills. Further, I acquired a solid experience in community services by delivering wide range of social welfare services to diverse communities. I have been supporting people with disabilities to achieve their life goals including providing mentoring and life coaching through employing solution focused and empowerment approaches. I strongly believe that my personal values: care, compassion, respect and empathy aligns with values required by any social work role. Moreover, my ability to think critically using self-awareness and reflection techniques enhanced my understanding of cultural influence on personal values, beliefs and behaviour. This help me to empathise and build rapport with my clients as i would know why they are behaving how they are behaving. I have gained extensive knowledge about human psychology through engaging in online workshops, research and wide range of evidence based resources. I worked with clients from Persian, Irish, British, Indian, Australian and Spanish backgrounds which further enhanced my cultural competency. I believe that passion and genuine compassion are the keys to any social role as these two elements will drive you to care for a person and bring positive change in person’s life.
