I am currently working towards my PhD which is funded by EPSRC in the Centre for Doctoral Training in Plastic Electronics. My research focuses on the fabrication of uniform thin films of metal oxide via atomic layer deposition (ALD) for applications with organic and perovskite based optoelectronic devices.Additional responsibilities - Laboratory Operating Manager. Duties include: • Ensuring the laboratory complies with safety standards • Providing safety inductions to new users • Managing day-to-day laboratory activities • Maintenance to equipment within the laboratory

Alongside my PhD I worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Materials undergraduate laboratories. Here I demonstrated and taught new subjects related to the kinetics of chemical reactions and the viscosity of glass and evaluated the performance of these students during the taught sessions and through marking/feedback of their written reports.This work has given me a good experience of teaching new concepts and training of equipment to peers with less understanding. As a result, it is allowing me to apply for an Associate Fellowship Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) qualification.

I worked within the Organic Electronics team to prepare and evaluate formulations of new polymer and small molecule semiconductors for organic thin film transistor applications. This included conducting electronic and physical experiments to characterise semiconductor materials. The data and analysis were presented through weekly laboratory reports and meetings, as well as a literature review and academic report.This position allowed me to understand the roles and responsibilities required to work effectively within an industrial research site including meeting customer deadlines and communicating with other students, staff and customers to present results and develop ideas.
