As a software engineer at Battelle I have supported a disaster management application (DMIS), which is used by police, fire & rescue, and local governments to organize disaster responses. DMIS is a client server application written entirely in Java with a Swing interface, utilizing a proprietary messaging service, as well as JDBC. I wrote client applications that tested the Web Services of the DMIS application, and fixed defects that were found of the server side of the web services.I was the lead developer on a project which developed a medium sized Struts based web application (DHSInfo) utilizing JSPs, JSTL, and Tomcat. DHSInfo allowed for users to apply for membership, administrators to approve membership and grant permission to different parts of the application, and members to post and read information pertaining to their areas of expertise, and also to send emails to predefined members list.

Starting as a programmer on the Customer Service Information System (CSIS), I quickly proved myself and was promoted to Programmer Analyst within one year. Shortly after that, I was chosen to join the Point Of Sale (POS) replacement project during its startup phase. Below is a list of some of my projects while at Circuit City.- POS Returns, Refunds, and Price Adjustments, Sales with Contracts, Gift Card sales, Application Configuration, Basic Sales Flow, Item Information- Developed an instant messaging application. This application used client/server technology that enabled instant communication between the corporate offices and the cashiers in the store.- Organized and lead a Java study group to train and prepare myself and others for future projects.- Mentored new employees.- Worked to maintain and support the CSIS project and related applications. This project included a large database, which contains customer information and history, as well as applications which feed and extract information from the database.

- Analyzed, debugged, and updated legacy software- Assisted in porting code from a proprietary language to C.- Developed and maintained data analysis software on a UNIX (Solaris) Operating System. - Conducted requirements analysis as part of a software development team. This involved gathering information from the client and the developer, and culminated in detailed documentation of the process.As part of a design team, I helped to design and implement a Data Entry program that includes a Graphical User Interface.
