- Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.- Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety.- Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and ensure compliance of legislative standards and requirements.- Lead a team of safety professionals and provide guidance and support for all safety-related activities.- Develop and conduct training for health and safety matters and accident prevention.- Promote a culture of safety to employees in all our companies through programs and initiatives.- Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations.- Support the investigation of accidents or incidents to discover causes and recommend solutions.- Monitor and recommend corrective actions as required.- Collaborate with HR to manage workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs.- Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to senior management.- Conduct and participate in safety audits as required.- Initiate, promote, implement, and maintain Health and Safety projects and initiatives.- Oversee safety orientation and training for all new employees to ensure complete and effective understanding of potential risks and expected behaviours within the workplace.- Actively promote and participate in monthly Health and Safety Committee meetings and provide guidance to committee’s in resolving issues in an appropriate and timelymanner.- Respond to accidents, incidents and near misses appropriately, as required, including communicating, training, coaching and following up with supervisors and employees.- Encourage and promote positive and effective safety culture through communications initiatives and coaching supervisors/employees.- Support company initiatives and policies and conduct and execute all activities and duties with enthusiasm and a positive, results focused attitude.
