Javier is PhD Mechanical Engineer and an Associate Professor of the Technical University of Madrid in Spain. He is the Deputy Director of Training and Dissemination and a Research Fellow at the University Institute for Automobile Research at Technical University of Madrid. He has over 23 years of experience in road accident research including in-depth accident investigation studies. Javier has contributed to lecture programmes concerned with vehicle safety systems and real-world accident issues, and he has contributed to publications concerned with accident reconstruction, statistical studies of traffic accidents, dynamic tests in vehicles, and implementation of the on-board instrumentation in vehicles for dynamic tests. Javier is also the Spanish Member of the European Enhanced Vehicle-safety Committee –Working Group 21 (Accident Studies), and he has participated in several European Research Projects of the IV, V and VII Framework Program (European Commission), and of the National Competitive Programs.
