Hourly StudentCcicada - Rutgers University Aug 2013 - May 2016Piscataway, NjCCICADA, a Center of Excellence of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Assisted in two research projects: A) Unaccompanied alien children in the US. I focused my efforts in statistical analysis, modeling and simulation in order to analyze the reasons behind this immigration and the changes needed to accommodate potential variations of the number of arrivals of these children. The aim was to bridge the gap between research and policy-making by proposing an assessment of the situation as well as system improvements. B) US Coast Guard. Helped to implement a mixed integer programming model that aimed to optimize resource allocation given budgetary and service constraints. -

Led and directed all phases in projects to implement safety stock calculations in North America by proposing, creating, implementing and updating a statistical model. Presented results and led discussions with management. Worked with the transport and distribution team to find new warehouse locations and routes that minimized costs while meeting service levels. Responsible for creating and implementing a network optimization model based on operations research and mixed integer programming as a part of this project. Responsible for replenishing and tracking imports and packaging materials with extensive use of SAP. Worked closely with manufacturing, transport analysts and customer service representatives to provide high quality products in a timely manner and address daily problems to ensure continuity in production.
