I worked as part of a team to come up with a new product for the IFTSA & Mars Product Development Competition where we placed 2nd in the national competition in July 2015. Our product was SouperBowl - a microwaveable, frozen bread bowl product filled with broccoli cheddar cheese soup. We saw this project through from the initial brainstorming phases to the production of the actual product, including the marketing and engineering plans. Our idea for the mold of the bread bowl is currently in the process of getting patented. My specific duties were as follows:• Created the bread formulation• Created the initial soup formulation and then worked with the team to create the final formula• Added microwave shields to the packaging to help manage the microwave time so that the bread and soup were both ready at the same time • Helped develop steam packaging for product to increase the moisture retention of bread and prevent drying from excessive microwave heating. • Created and maintained communication with industry professionals that aided in the development of the bread bowl and soup.
