The project goal was developing a Mali DP-500 driver from scratch for Android using the ADF framework. I was the most senior developer in the team. Provide full support for Linux for embedded platforms based on i.MX27 SoCs from Freescale and DM3730 SoCs from TI.The job involves the following tasks:- Bring up a naked board using JTAG, configure RAM and NOR controllers.- Port the bootloader, u-boot, to the new board.- Port the Linux kernel to the new platform, work and send the contributions to the Linux community, mantain the board code for subsequent kernel versions.- Develop Linux drivers for audio and video engines, video H.264 encoder, video sensors... and send the code to the Linux mainline kernel.

The job involved two separate parts:1. Port uClinux to a nios2 Altera processor inside a FPGA Cyclone III based platform:- Use Altera SOPC Builder to create a basic NIOS2 system.- Create drivers for uClinux for a Vista Silicon's custom audio engine.- Evaluate support for database software such as sqlite or mysql.2. Run Linux in a LEON3 processor inside a Stratix II from Altera.- Use GRLIB IP Library from Gaisler to create a LEON3 based basic HW system.- Configure, modify an compile Snapgear LEON3 Linux distribution for the platform.- Modify bootloader to boot from a serial SPI flash instead of a memory mapped NOR.- Evaluate database software support such as sqlite or mysql.This last part was used as a proposal of a platform for an ESA project.
