I am a Materials Science and Engineering Ph.D. Candidate with a background in Mechanical Engineering. Since my last undergrad year, I have been involved in industrial and academic research projects. Some that I can highlight include solving erosion & corrosion problems for heavy fuel engines used for stationary power generators. Also, I explored bio-hydroxyapatite synthesis and its deposition to improve the bioactivity in Ti implants. I have been part of the Mechanical Engineering Department at Universidad San Francisco de Quito for three years. My main activities were teaching problem courses and carrying on demonstrations as a laboratory instructor. In addition, I had the chance to be part of the Materials Research Institute at the same university as a research assistant. Currently, my work is focused on studying the high-temperature mechanical behavior and microstructural evolution of beta Ti alloys. The formation mechanisms of metastable phases and alpha at different solutionizing and aging conditions. And how to apply this understanding to improve the mechanical properties of as-built additive manufacturing pieces.
