As a biologist I have a natural fascination towards life sciences. For this reason I started my research process with my bachelor thesis about in vivo and in vitro Parkinson models. This close experience with the scientific world awoke a great passion in me to understand the biological and pathological processes that concern the central nervous system. Therefore I continued with a MSc. education followed by a PhD. in which I worked on developing and validating potential targets for gene therapy in Alzheimer’s Disease and ischemic stroke. Currently, I am finished my Ph.D. in Neurobiology and Neuroimmunology. Here I focused on the neuro-immunological response which contributes to the development of Alzheimer’s Disease. For this, I used several models, including primary cultures of brain cells, mouse models and also human brain tissue, on which I performed lipidomics, proteomics, and transcriptomics.
