About Joseph Waller

Completed relocation of family to Sidney, Ohio in November of 2021. Throughout my career the plants, systems and equipment I, and my team members, have worked on have become more efficient, more effective and more reliable. This is independent of the industry they are located, electronics, food process and service, plastics, etc. What you can expect from me: The projects and programs I have led and supported have been completed in less time than expected, at lower costs, with fewer resources and with higher than anticipated results. The stakeholders I have worked with have defined the results they desired and their desired schedule. This clarity of mission allowed me to set goals for the teams I held. What I expect to find at a new operation: In the vast majority of the plants in which I have in a key maintenance or plant engineering role there have been a large number of assets, but there are only a small number of equipment items that were the cause of the majority of reliability issues. This is an example of the 80/20 rule or Pareto principal. Within those equipment items there are only a few, possible one, component that is susceptible to accelerated deterioration or (seemingly) random failures. Root cause, predictive maintenance and condition monitoring: Isolating the source of problems can lead to dramatic and near instantaneous improvements in performance and can do so in a cost-effective manner in a surprisingly short amount of time. The key is to relentlessly drill down to the root cause of failures, define criticality of equipment, dig deep into historical downtime records, process rate deviations, and quality defects. Machine monitoring on a continuous basis can pay great dividends in preventing equipment breakdowns BEFORE they happen.

Listed skills include Energy Conservation, Leadership, Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, and 32 others.
