Clerking positions i.a. for- The Unified Patent Court (Local Chamber Hamburg)- Hanseatic Stock Exchange Hamburg- Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (Legal Tech Lab, Global Transactions)

As co-founder and CEO throughout the early stage phases I was responsible for transforming the team’s ideas into a working company. This included negotiating and closing several investment rounds as well as public grants/subsidies and pitching our company to investors in both public and private environments. It also meant representing the company in procedures and talks with regulatory agencies and creating internal structures and administrative processes from scratch (e.g. legal, hiring, accounting, market launch). In the later stages I focussed on the strategic/legal challenges arising in the growth phase, including medical device regulation and data protection laws as well as research partnerships necessary for healthcare reimbursement.Being part of and leading an enthusiastic interdisciplinary team has been rewarding both professionally and emotionally. Our cooperation with major healthcare providers, insurance companies and university researchers has given me experience in dealing with the peculiarities of the emerging eHealth market, insights in the vast potential for scalable products in an aging society as well as the skill set to deal with the associated regulatory and legal challenges (think e.g. GDPR) in an efficient manner.Building a company from scratch has also given me a special opportunity to further develop my practical legal skills, as being in charge of the diverse incoming legal tasks meant often personally creating and executing legal documents in various fields of law in the initial startup-phase.

Building on my previous experience in consulting, project coordination and QA at INSTEAD (University of Passau Student Consultancy) I provided professional consulting services with a regulatory focus to clients in Hamburg as project lead. Working hands-on with real clients, such as Tesa SE, and practical business focus was a great complement to my academic studies at Bucerius Law School.

My work at the US-German law firm based in Orlando, Florida was focussed on aggressive litigation in deposit return cases. Working mainly on discovery, preparing depositions and drafting affidavits and motions/briefs as well as settlement agreements I gained first hand experience in the workings of the US legal system.

For my first internship I joined White & Case’s Administrative Law practice group at the Hamburg office. My main tasks included writing briefs/legal opinions and providing legal research, mainly in the areas of Public Procurement Law and Environmental Law. I learned the Biglaw-approach to legal services and how to prepare casework with the diligence, time and resources afforded by global law firms.
