As Director Operational Capability my role was to explore emerging technologies and develop solutions to enhance team situational awareness, decision making and targeting. This included leading Elbit Australia team's interaction with the ADF in soldier systems, command and control tools and management systems. In addition, I supported business development and the capture, bid and proposal process to win work. I enjoyed collaborating with a wide range of clients to understand their requirements and provide bespoke solutions to their needs. Effective communications is key to achieve these objectives.

This was my first entrepreneurial business venture in the UAE where my partners and I took over a failed medical business, www.bodyworx.ae and built the business from the ground up. • Conducted full analysis of the market, opportunities and risks to develop a long term business plan.• Produced business and marketing plans to ensure growth while maintaining strict medical standards and professional services.• Developed and implemented strategic marketing activities to grow annual revenue from startup to over $5 mil.

Fully responsible for the day to day management, leadership and operation of the Australian Special Air Service Operational Support Squadron.• Managed multi-disciplinary teams of up to 200 staff, including authoring the business plan, communicating the plan to the team, determining priorities, setting team goals, allocating resources, monitoring day to day work activities and authoring management reports.• Functional responsibilities encompassed strategic planning, operations management, fleet management, media, public relations, capability advice, risk management, resource management, facility management, compliance and corporate governance.• Developed crisis response options within high risk and politically sensitive locations. • Dual hatted as Head of Training, with stewardship of training plans, staffing, quality assurance and resource allocation.

• As an Australian Liaison Officer assigned to the US Joint Special Operations Command, I provided advice on a spectrum of matters affecting the Australian Defence Force and the Australian Special Operations Command.• Monitored international capability developments with the potential for application in the Australian Special Operations context.• Contributed to international policy development, negotiations and contingency planning affecting the employment of special forces.• Explored the functionality of new equipment and technology through engagement with leading industry establishments on developments in robotics, specialist electronic equipment, high speed boats and vehicle technology. Following my return to Australia, I identified the need to educate people of advances in military robotics and produced the report "Rise of the Robot: what are the implications on future warfare" which is attached below.• Managed teams through all phases of the training development lifecycle, including training analysis, training design, training delivery and evaluation.

Led teams of up to 50 Maritime Operations staff, domestically and internationally, to conduct a spectrum of military special operations.
