Biologic Design was established by Jay in 1993 to create Wetland Ecosystem Treatment or WET Systems - constructed wetlands for integrated wastewater purification, resource production and wildlife habitat creation.Wetland Ecosystem Treatment (WET) Systems A WET System is not a simple Reedbed Treatment System, but a soil-based, multi-species, tree-powered, horizontal plug-flow, constructed wetland.A WET System is a Low-Entropy System and is designed to view the wastewater input not as a 'problem to be got rid of', but as a resource which can be converted, by the densely planted wetland system, into soil and plant biomass (the yield), as well as a beautiful and diverse wetland ecosystem.Whole Site Water Reticulation SystemsWe design, create the earthworks and plant Whole Site Water Reticulation Systems.Here a WET System is but a small part of a larger integrated wetland production system - which not only purifies and harvests wastewater, and puts it to productive use, but also harvests rainwater on a landscape scale and leads this water throughout the site by gentle gravity flow to where it can 'do its duty in the landscape'.Within this water retentive landscape water’s 'duty' is to enable all of the water resource to be used productively; creating biological yield and resources, soil and soil fertility.The water retentive nature of the landscape scale design also prevents the negative impacts of water-logging and of water flowing too rapidly through the landscape; erosion and soil loss.These Whole Site Systems are designed to enable maximum food, fuel and fibre production on the sites whilst also giving easy access to the whole site for management and harvesting.Some of the small paddocks created can be managed as species rich hay meadows and others to practice mob grazing under a Regenerative Agriculture management regime.For more information about our WET Systems and Whole Site Water Plans and their wide range of applications and multiple benefits, please see our website: www.biologicdesign.co.uk.
