His project experience ranges from small run-of-river hydropower projects to new development for closed-loop pump storage plants. Some of the key management responsibilities included staffing requirements, budget management and development, project proposals and development, employee evaluations, contract negotiations, policy development and adherence. In addition to my permanent staff, I had technical supervision of contract employees and outsourced projects to A&E firms. As manager of this department, I was responsible for all technical aspects of the electrical and I&C projects at TVA’s hydropower plants. I also served as the program manager for large capital projects such as TVA’s hydro automation program. The automation program was a $75 million project and is now fully implemented. This department has complete responsibility for all electrical and I&C engineering activities at TVA’s hydropower plants. All major rehabilitation project designs are generated by the team or tasked to a contracting firm which reports to the group. Examples of projects included hydro plant modernization (upgrades/rehabilitation) projects (typically included replacement of the generator breaker, main transformers, excitation system, generator and transformer protective relaying), and auxiliary power board (480 volt boards) replacements. We also handled smaller operations and maintenance projects. -

Mr. Anders served as an instructor at a Navy technical school for individuals who entered the Navy to become electricians in the nuclear power program. Each group instructed consisted of approximately 25 students. Mr. Anders was responsible for insuring they passed the class to the best of their ability while maintaining a professional military manner at all times. Other duties outside of the classroom involved the development of lesson plans and other classroom material.Electrician aboard U.S.S. Puffer (SSN-652). At the conclusion of the Navy’s nuclear training program, Mr. Anders was assigned to serve as an electrician on a nuclear-powered submarine. Some of the equipment he worked on included motor generator sets, various types and sizes of circuit breakers, motor controllers, as well as other electrical/electronic devices. As the senior enlisted man in the electrical division, he was responsible for directing the efforts of up to 14 electricians, planning maintenance for equipment, ordering necessary equipment, training/developing new personnel, as well as other management concerns.
