The initial task was to raise the equity for the company. Venture capital was a new concept in the late 1980s in India. Therefore, it was essential to have a strong funding base from reputed investors. I was a key member of the team that managed to obtain equity funding from renowned international investors, like the Asian Development Bank, Manila, and the Commonwealth Development Corporation, London.
