I am an experienced general practitioner, with interests in mental health, integrative and functional medicineI am passionate about the use of nutrition/lifestyle, mind-body and complementary approaches to improve patient choice, outcomes and reduce medication burden.I have expertise in integrated service development and clinical leadership in mental and adolescent health. I am interested in innovation in healthcare in order to meet patient needs in the changing healthcare climate. My clinical interests include adolescent health, mental health, integrative, functional and lifestyle medicine and sexual health. I am currently the lead GP at medium sized practice in a deprived area of south east London. I am also the lead GP at the Mulberry Hub, an award winning integrated GP Led Adolescent Health Service, which I developed in partnership with Lewisham CAMHS and the joint CYP commissioners. We provide early intervention in adolescent mental health and support the transition in to adulthood (up to age 25). I am also the mental health lead for North Lewisham PCN, where I have developed a team of Mental health practitioners and Mental Health and well-being coaches to improve access to mental health services and address health inequalities within our local community.

Young people can self refer or be referred by GPs, CAMHS, Education services, social care, gang exit workers. Our focus is on the young people and we usually see them alone. We deal with the full spectrum of health issues, but a large proportion of our patients have mental health difficulties and we provide them with rapid access to treatment, relieving the pressure on CAMHS and achieving excellent outcomes. Our youth workers are able to engage young people who would otherwise be reluctant to do so and provide additional social support.

Fellow In Medical EducationHealth Education England Jan 2015 - Jan 2016London, United KingdomThis was a fixed term role in which I was the pan-london responsible officer for implementation of a key deliverable of the Health Education England mandate from the Department of Health.In this role I developed some innovative pilot educational programmes to enable GP trainees who did not have clinical placements in child health and mental health to gain clinical experience and improve their knowledge. My approach was two-fold: to identify high quality educational opportunities in both the hospital and community settings and negotiate clinical supervision/trainee release; to develop joint learning programmes in which speciality trainees and GP trainees consult and learn together in order to facilitate transfer of knowledge and skills. This was a challenging role given both the tight timescale and the absence of financial resources, however three of the pilots were successful and have been sustained. I understand that there is ongoing work within Health Education England in order to disseminate these. -
