At Capita my role was to be the nominated Network Architect for any number of given projects. Over my time in Capita this became a specialist role focused on Data Centre networks. At Capita the Network TDA was the design authority for any network component of any architecture design, it was the responsibility of the TDA to produce designs that met the customer requirements whilst being aware of the possible technologies that could be deployed and the most cost-effective way to do so. As part of this I would be responsible for documenting all designs, passing them through a Design Review board and creating all materials necessary for a Network Engineer to deploy this solution. Also, Capita is a multi-vendor company meaning many solutions used hardware from different vendors covering; Cisco, F5, Nokia and HP. Show less

During my time at Tomorrow Communications, I was primarily based at BSkyB where my role was lead implementer on the Sky Go (now NowTV) project. This involved creating all the network configuration necessary to support consumer class video streaming across the Internet. My role involved working on all aspects of the network solution such as video encoding, DRM, caching and working with CDN providers to ensure smooth delivery of video files. It was also my responsibility to document and support the design through implementation and go-live. This service went on to receive numerous awards and industry recognition as a streaming video service. Essentially, I was first point of contact for the design, its implementation, the DRM solution and any issues that arose. During this time, I also assisted with the design of “phase two” video streaming (more devices across more geographic locations) and also solely responsible for the design of the Disaster Recovery solution for this service.
